How to Buy OSRS Gold Safely

Quick answer

There are two ways to turn real money into Old School RuneScape GP. The official one is to buy Bonds from Jagex and sell them on the Grand Exchange. The other is to buy GP directly from a third-party seller like us, which is faster and often gets you more GP per dollar, but it is against Jagex's rules and carries a real risk to your account. If you choose to buy GP, the safest way is: pay only on the seller's own website, give only your character name (never your login), receive the GP in a normal in-game trade, never return GP to anyone afterwards, and only buy if you accept the account risk. You can see live prices and stock on our buy OSRS gold page.

The honest part: what Jagex's rules say

Jagex's Rules of RuneScape ban real-world trading (RWT): buying or selling GP, items or accounts for real money or anything else of value. Breaking the rules can get an account muted or banned. In September 2025 Jagex also announced a harsher line on buyers: instead of a warning, players caught buying gold can be banned, temporarily or permanently, even on a first offence, and the items they bought can be confiscated. Jagex's rules also say that if one of your accounts gained wealth through rule-breaking, all of your accounts may be banned.

So no seller can make buying OSRS gold risk-free, and you should be wary of anyone who says it's "100% safe" or "unbannable". What a good seller can do is keep the risk as low as possible and stand behind its orders. That's what the rest of this guide is about.

OSRS Bonds vs buying GP

A Bond is the only item you can get in game by paying Jagex real money. You can redeem a Bond for membership (one Bond gives 14 days), or, if it's tradeable, sell it on the Grand Exchange to other players for GP. That makes Bonds the rule-safe way to "buy gold": you pay Jagex, then sell the Bond for coins.

Buying Bonds from JagexBuying GP from a seller
Allowed by Jagex? Yes, it's the official option. No. It's real-world trading and against the rules.
Account risk None from the purchase itself. Possible GP removal or a ban; see our safety page.
GP per dollar Set by what players pay for Bonds on the Grand Exchange, which changes daily. Often more GP for the same money; compare on our live price page.
How you get GP Sell the Bond on the Grand Exchange. Hand-delivered by a trader in a face-to-face trade.
Amounts One Bond at a time per Grand Exchange offer slot. Choose the amount you need on the order form.
Refunds Under Jagex's own terms. Under the seller's policy; ours is on our Refund Policy page.

A few details worth knowing: once a tradeable Bond has been traded or sold, it becomes untradeable. Converting an untradeable Bond back to tradeable costs a fee of 10% of a Bond's Grand Exchange value. If you only want membership, buying a Bond and redeeming it yourself is simple and carries no account risk. If you want a larger amount of GP for gear, skilling supplies or a quest unlock, buying GP is the faster route, as long as you understand and accept the risk above.

How buying OSRS gold works with us, step by step

  1. Choose your order. On our buy OSRS gold page, pick the amount of GP. The price on the order form is what you pay, with no fees added later.
  2. Pay on our website. You can pay by credit or debit card through Stripe, so your card details are never shared with us, or with Zelle, e-Transfer or USDC (Base), depending on your order's currency. We only take payment through this website; never pay anyone in game or on another site who claims to be us.
  3. Verify your email and phone. This is part of our anti-fraud checks. Some orders get a quick manual review. If you've verified on an earlier order, you skip this step.
  4. Give your character details. On the Trade page, enter your OSRS character name exactly as it appears in game. That's all we need. We never ask for your password, your authenticator code or your bank PIN.
  5. Receive the GP face to face. For OSRS we deliver by Face to Face Trade: stay online with that character, and our trader will contact you in game and meet you to trade. Orders are delivered in sequence, so please wait in game. Putting a cheap item of your own in the same trade is safer. Check the trader's name letter by letter against the name we gave you before you accept. More on how this works on our Delivery Methods page.
  6. Done. Once the GP is in your inventory, your order is complete. Our trader will never ask you to give it back for any reason.

If anything goes wrong before delivery, you can get a refund at any time, and a partly delivered order is refunded for the undelivered part. If Jagex later takes back GP we delivered, we'll resend it or refund the amount removed, your choice, as long as you send us the notice within 7 days. We can't compensate for mutes, suspensions or bans. Full details are on our Refund Policy page.

How to stay safe and lower the ban risk

  • Never share your account. Jagex's rules forbid sharing your account, and a seller who logs in to "deliver for you" has your whole account, not just your order. A legitimate seller only needs your character name.
  • Don't talk about buying gold in game. Not in public chat, not in private messages, not with our trader. Treat the trade like any other trade between players.
  • Don't pass the GP on straight away. Our takeback guarantee covers GP on the character we delivered to; it doesn't cover GP that was traded to another character after delivery.
  • Be careful with brand-new accounts. New free-to-play accounts have trade restrictions until they reach certain playtime, total level and quest point requirements, and the exact rules can change. If your account is new, tell us before the trade so we can check it will go through.
  • Keep your account secure. Use Jagex's two-step authentication, keep your PC protected with up-to-date security software, and only log in on official Jagex websites.
  • Don't chase the lowest price. A price far below the normal range can mean the GP comes from bots or hacked accounts, which is the kind most likely to be taken back. Jagex's September 2025 notice was aimed squarely at players buying from gold-farming bots.

OSRS scams to avoid

"Send it back" after the trade

Right after your trade, someone with a name close to our trader's, or claiming to be our support, says the GP was sent by mistake, or that you must return it for a screenshot, a bonus or because an account was banned. Our trader will never ask you to return GP. Anyone who does is a scammer, and we can't cover that loss.

Money doubling

One of the oldest OSRS scams, often run around the Grand Exchange: a player offers to double your coins, sometimes "proves" it by doubling a small amount first, then keeps the larger sum. Nobody doubles money. The same goes for any "trust trade" where you hand over GP first and wait to be paid back.

Trade window swaps

A scammer shows one item, cancels with an excuse, then trades a similar-looking item that's worth less, or changes what's offered in the window. Read both trade screens carefully before you accept, every time. When you receive GP from us, check the amount in the second trade screen matches your order.

Fake Jagex staff and fake ban notices

Messages claiming to be from Jagex, offering a Player Moderator position or warning that your account is banned, then asking you to "verify" or "appeal" on a website. Jagex says it doesn't private message players in game to send them to an outside website, and it uses the in-game Message Centre for official contact. Never give your password, authenticator code or recovery details to anyone.

Phishing sites and copycat sellers

Fake login pages copy the look and web address of official Jagex sites, and copycat gold sites copy a real seller's name. Links often arrive by private message, Discord, email, or fake "double XP" streams and videos. Type addresses yourself or use a bookmark. Contact us only through the channels on our Contact Us page. Short answers

Is it legal to buy OSRS gold?

Buying GP for real money is against Jagex's rules, which is what decides what happens to your account. Jagex can remove the GP or ban the account. Bonds are the only official way to pay real money for something you can turn into GP.

Can I get banned for buying OSRS gold?

Yes, it's possible, including on a first offence. Following the safety steps above lowers the risk but can't remove it. We cover GP that Jagex takes back (with notice within 7 days), not bans.

How do you deliver OSRS gold?

By a face-to-face trade in game. You stay online with the character on your order and our trader meets you to trade.

What information do you need?

Your character name, plus your email and phone for verification. Never your password.

Is buying Bonds better than buying GP?

Bonds carry no rule risk, so they're the right choice if you mainly want membership or don't want to risk your account. Buying GP often gives more GP per dollar and is quicker for larger amounts, but it's against the rules.

How much does OSRS gold cost?

Prices change with supply and demand, so we don't quote them here. See the current price and stock on our buy OSRS gold page.
